After the turkey is carved and the leftover meat is refrigerated, don't get rid of the remaining carcass and bones just yet. You can make some delicious turkey stock with them. Just add them to a big pot of carrots, celery, onion, and water — then simmer.

There are other food scraps you can repurpose from Thanksgiving, too. Onion skins can be repurposed into onion dye (great for Easter eggs), and apple peels can be made into apple peel tea and apple peel jam, as well as used for a nutritious oatmeal topping.

You can even reuse that leftover water that you use to boil potatoes. Potato water is great for watering houseplants and even better as a thickening agent for soups, stews, and sauces.

As for the non-edible trash, you can repurpose wine corks, wine bottles, food cans, aluminum pie tins, and more. Being sustainable and repurposing what you have for greater use is an amazing way to give thanks for the abundance in your life.
