Whether or not you consider yourself a morning person, the consistent ability to wake up at an early hour is a personal habit worth developing.

When you have the physical and mental discipline to get out of bed without hitting the snooze five times, you give yourself more precious time in the morning to get a head start on the day. Like actually eating a nutritious breakfast, squeezing in a morning jog, getting some writing done, or simply giving yourself an extra hour or two before the rest of the world wakes up to calmly reflect on how you plan on spending the day ahead of you.

So as one simple but effective way to really get yourself out of bed in the morning, place your alarm clock or cell phone on the other side of the room or even in another room in your living space. Add more incentive by programming your coffeemaker to start grinding coffee at the time you wake up.

If nothing jolts you into wakefulness like extreme disdain for organizations that go against what you believe in, you can always use SnuzNLuz, a Wi-Fi donation alarm clock that will send money to a charity or political cause of your choice that you absolutely hate.
